Garden Club – October 27, 2024

Why is the Garden Club Part of Worship?

“One is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.”
This is a quote by Dorothy Frances Gurney, 1858-1932

A garden is a place of solace for the soul. Growing things are alive and vibrant narrators of God’s provision and nurture. We become more aware of Nature and grow in our appreciation of all living things. It is one way we can participate in creation! We plant, we water, we tend… and God rewards us with life!

Through the Garden Club, we learn more about how to grow plants and how to help them thrive. We discover new plants, learn to propagate and share, where to plant what and when, and what to do when a plant is struggling.

Gardening is a worship experience. Come and see!

We closed with Prayer:

A Thanksgiving for Gardens

God of grace, in the story of creation,
you made the earth a garden
and entrusted it to us to till and to keep,
a place of peace and beauty
where we could walk with you.
In the story of redemption,
the one who died for us was buried in a garden,
and there you raised him up
to greet us with new hope and risen life.
In the story of the Church,
you tend us as a garden,
a place of careful pruning and abundant harvest,
where we can work with you.
Meet us, we pray,
in all the gardens where we go
for nourishment, refreshment and prayer,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
