Love, Teach, Heal

Love, Teach, Heal is Bishop McConnell’s Vision/Mission for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  It is an important mission for all Christians all the time!  We, at Emmanuel, take this seriously.  It is our MO.

LOVE
We are a small congregation but mighty in love.  Diverse in many ways, we hail from different occupations, family constellations and neighborhoods around the city and beyond.  We represent many talents, passions, and missions.

What we lack in “program” or organized outreach ministries, is instead channeled into the everyday attempts each of us make to live out Christ’s charge to love our neighbor as ourselves.

What we share is a love of Jesus, each other, our Episcopal liturgy and our shared worship experience here at Emmanuel.

TEACH
What is taught from the pulpit is always focused on who God is and who we are in Christ. All scripture is viewed and interpreted from the perspective of God’s unchangeable character of majesty, love and pure goodness.

God’s Love is unconditional.  HIs Healing is unquestionable.  Still, we need to hear these truths over and over as there are so many competitors for our attention and beliefs.  Welcome to what you can expect from Sunday Services and Bible Studies!

HEAL

Those who have been here the longest say we also share a long legacy.

We think so.

They speak of a huge wooden sign that used to hang on the front of the church and might have looked something like this:

We believe that at Emmanuel, THE Carpenter is still mending broken lives.  Ask any of us.

We value our namesake “Emmanuel” as the truth of “God with us.”

He is.

How else could we love, teach and heal?

We welcome you to come and see.

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). Matthew 1:23
