New Garden Club starting! ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿชด

FIRST MEETING: OCTOBER 27th, NOON- 1:30PM AT THE CHURCH

Emmanuel has a long history of Garden Enthusiasts! The Ladies of Emmanuel had a Mother’s Day Flower Sale annually as our major fund raiser for years. The last Plant Sale we had was in 2019.

We plant lovers are taking a new direction in the form of a Garden Club! This will be an informal club where all are welcome and there are no dues. Occasionally there may be a donation for supplies if we are making something together. We are just at the very beginning of this endeavor and will need to choose a Club Name, a Time to meet and Topics and Activities that appeal the most Gardeners and would-be Gardeners. Exciting times!! See this tab on our Emmanuel website for details.

Why is the Garden Club Part of Our Worship?

First of all, because as believers, everything we do is worship. (See Total Worship.)”One is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.”
This is a quote by Dorothy Frances Gurney, 1858-1932

A garden is a place of solace for the soul. Growing things are alive and vibrant narrators of God’s provision and nurture. We become more aware of Nature and grow in our appreciation of all living things. It is one way we can participate in creation! We plant, we water, we tend… and God rewards us with life!

Through the Garden Club, we learn more about how to grow plants and how to help them thrive. We discover new plants, learn to propagate and share, where to plant what and when, and what to do when a plant is struggling.

Gardening is truly a worship experience. Come and see!

What is the purpose of this Garden Club?

To provide a way for gardening enthusiasts and the curious to collaborate, learn about plants and growing techniques, share resources, ideas, expertise, and get to know other Gardeners in the community. We would meet to learn, share and have fun in a comfortable, friendly, welcoming setting.

Do you need to know much about gardening or have been gardening?

NO. You do not. This is about learning, sharing enthusiasm, and above all appreciating what God has given us to fill up all our senses and inspire us to worship him for his amazing creation. Amen?

Why are we starting a Garden Club in October, you ask?

Spring is way too busy and we can use this time to get ready for Spring, so let’s go! And, after all, FALL IS BEAUTIFUL!

Our first topic of interest will be “Winter Gardening and Wintering Over” to extend the growing season. OR, Caring for Decorative Plants and Flowers to Celebrate Fall and Christmas.

Our first official meeting will be Sunday, OCTOBER 27 immediately after the second Service at NOON.

Details on WHERE we meet will be forth-coming. Prepare to come with your ideas! Bring your own lunch or snack if you need one. We will try to wrap up in an hour if everyone is on time or by 1:30.

Stay tuned and watch for Flyers in church and on our website. Here is where you can keep track of Club activities and events. Go there now to see a list of topics and other ideas!

The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11
