Do You Know YOU are God’s Treasure?
Being Treasured by God is about who God is. Like a parent, he loves his children, flawed as we are. We don’t need to earn his love. Becoming a Christian, means we finally see what has been true all along. How loved we all are! As the children’s song goes, “red and yellow, black and white, we are precious in his site…”
Treasured!
“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” Isaiah 62:3-4
“To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ, in you the hope of glory.”
Colossians 1:27
Treasure in Jars of Clay
Treasures that we are, there is a flip side to this golden coin. The real treasure is “Christ in you, the hope of Glory.” Think of yourself as a vessel of love! Flesh and blood vessels that are receptacles of The Holy One of Israel!
“What we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord… we have this treasure (being the knowledge of God’s extraordinary love) in ‘jars of clay,’ (i.e. ordinary you and me) to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”
Where is Your Treasure?
Our job is to walk in humility, knowing we are beloved and not relying on our status in the world, either as chosen or privileged people but also not buying into outside labels others may put on us that we are not good enough, rich enough or holy enough! Jesus warned, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-24 Above all, let’s treasure being treasured as one of all God’s children!
We are Treasures AND Treasure Hunters!
Do you see others how God sees them – with eyes of love? Ask God to open your eyes to the adventure of looking to love! Then keep a look-out. Ask God to show you who you can you remind today about your mutual treasured status.
And rejoice together! 👑👑
