Lent 2025 ☦️

Christlikeness

The Lenten Study by *Living Compass this year spotlights the Fruits of the Spirit as found in Galations 5:22-23.

Exploring the Fruits of the Spirit is an exercise in Christlikeness. Studying the Christ of the Bible, and spending time with God – both alone and with others are advantageous  Christian practices anytime, but Lent helps us focus with an end in sight.

Christlikeness is defined in the Bible in several places with a handy list. See also:
1 Corinthians 13:1-8 and Isaiah 11:1-3, and Ephesians 4:2-3.

Nevertheless, studying Jesus words, actions and approach to the events and beliefs during his time on earth is our biggest clue to God’s character.  Like Father, like Son!

Surely if each of us just grew in even slightly in only one of these beautiful Fruits, the world would be a better place!  If love, joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, gentleness and self-control are to be present in our world, it is everyone’s responsibility. Only “with God’s help” can we grow to be more like Christ, but grow we can.

Grab your booklet in the back of the church if there are any left, and set aside some time to read and meditate on the Fruits of the Spirit!

You might be interested in taking their Faith and Wellness Assessment before and after you complete the study to help you discern where to focus your attention and to see where you may have grown in Christlikeness.

*Living Compass is an Episcopal publication and website centered on helping us to live well by loving God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. As a result, we can live more wholly and well, loving ourselves and our neighbors.

On the Living Compass website there are details for how to get the devotions in your inbox (scroll down to the bottom of the page.). You can also follow the study on Facebook, or simply download a PDF version of the study.
