Trotting Turkeys Food Drive – 2025

chart showing the amount collected each month by a new small turkey over each weekly column.

Emmanuel’s 3rd Thanks – Giving Food Drive is under way!

Due to the generosity of the Emmanuel Family and Jazz @ Emmanuel Family, Tom Turkey is getting fat!

Harvest Blessings marked our first year of Gift Cards that raised over $600. Last year, we had The Giving Tree and charted the giving over two months, adding up to $1,100! We were happy to be able to give out 12, $50 gift cards for local grocers and 20, $25 gift cards to local Fast-food restaurants, which were given out the week of Thanksgiving to any person living on the street.

This year could be an especially rough year for food insecurity with SNAP benefits being withheld. In addition, those on the street may not have access to a food bank or local charity with food. Our members are instructed to give an envelope with a gift card and a message from Emmanuel to those they encounter on the street. We know it isn’t much, but it is something and it shows at least someone see them and cares.

So far this year, the Trotting Turkeys are tracking our giving over the same two months and as of Nov. 9th, we already have a total of $1,484.15 with one more week of contributions to be added to the final total. Gift cards will again be purchased for grocers and restaurants and given out. Please pray that our recipients will be truly blessed!

This has exceeded expectations and we are very thankful that our small congregation was able to achieve this goal by generously giving from their hearts for this special cause. We are small but mighty!

A Prayer For the Poor and the Neglected

Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you
all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us
to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick,
and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those
who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow
into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for
our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Book of Common Prayer, pg. 826

A Prayer for the Food Insecure

God of all who are homeless or hungry, we come before you on behalf of these our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. We pray for those are hungry and do not have enough to eat. We know, Lord, we have given so little, when the need is so great. We ask that what we have given will be multiplied to the blessing of those in need, and give You thanks. In the name of Jesus, who lived and dies as one of us. Amen.
