Special Convention

A Special Convention is a gathering of interested parishioners and special representatives or delegates of each Parish, called Deputies, who meet for a specific purpose — in this case to elect a new Bishop for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  The Special Convention is this coming Saturday, June 26, 2021.

The Bishop sets the course of the Diocese for years to come. So it is important to pray for them – now, yes, but also continually.  Prayer for the Bishop and Clergy are part of our liturgy in Prayers of the People every week.

Although only the Deputies from each Parish will actually cast a ballot for the new Bishop, all of us can and should meet the candidates, read their profiles and seek God’s choice.  Which one stands out for you?

This is a Week of Prayer for wisdom and discernment leading up to Saturday’s Vote. Pray for our Deputies from Emmanuel: Maximillion Elliot and Kevin Hipolit.  Pray for the Candidates.

Kevin and Maximillion would like to hear from you regarding your thoughts on the best candidate for our Diocese for the foreseeable future!  Call the church office or Jessie for their email or phone numbers. It will also be emailed out later today.

Prayer for the Election of a Bishop

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen. (BCP p. 818)
